The festivals of La Palma and gastronomy go hand in hand. During the romerías – a type of festive parade or pilgrimage – floats offer wine, sugared almonds, gofio (toasted meal) and other typical delicacies for people to taste in a festive atmosphere. There are festivals with a strong culinary focus, such as La Vendimia (grape harvest festival) in Fuencaliente or the Fiesta del Almendro en Flor (festival of almond flowers) in Puntagorda.
