This small museum-workshop is the only place in Europe which preserves the art of making silk by the same traditional methods which have been used since the 16th century, from breeding silkworms to making the garment. On the tour you will receive information on manual silk production, breeding silkworms, spinning, weaving, silk products and natural dyes, among which are the red pigment obtained from the blood of the cochineal beetle which lives on prickly pears.
