Located on the southernmost tip of the island are the salt mines of Fuencaliente. This is a spectacular spot of the island where high quality salt is produced through traditional methods already used in other islands, mainly those most eastern of the Canary archipelago.

The salt mines are a unique place to visit, with colour contrasts that photographers will love, and where you can learn first-hand about the production process. It has also been declared a Site of Scientific Interest due to the variety of birds that inhabit and nest in the salt mines.
