The capital of the island lies in the East of the island and it is home to the only commercial port of the island. It is a small but cosy town which has been declared as a Cultural Asset (category: historic-artistic setting) To go for a walk along its cobbled streets and alleyways is an unique experience permitting visitors, at the same time, to admire interesting and valuable examples of the social and religious heritage it is home to.

Its main artery, Calle Real (Calles O'Daly and A.Pérez de Brito) together with Avenida Marítima, Virgende la Luz street and San Sebastián street, are living, public exhibitions of these valuable elements.
